Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Urban area. Manufacturing or production. Tasks: Make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing and electrical systems, and contact tradespersons for major repairs. Contact contractors for repairs and maintenance of the establishment. Perform safety and security checks. Move heavy furniture, equipment and supplies. Perform other routine maintenance jobs such as painting and drywall repair. Work with minimal supervision. Utilize hand and power tools. Repair machine tools and parts. Perform minor repairs to equipment. Inspect sites or facilities to ensure safety and cleanliness standards. Assist skilled tradespersons. Equipment: Power tools. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Handling heavy loads. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Weight handling: Up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs). Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Personal suitability: Dependability. Flexibility. Initiative. Judgement. Organized. Reliability. Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year. Support for newcomers and refugees: Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports newcomers and/or refugees. Assists with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and/or refugees (for example: housing, transportation, storage, childcare, winter clothing, etc.). Supports social and labour market integration of newcomers and/or refugees (for example: facilitating access to community resources, language training, skills training, etc.). Recruits newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster (for example: Ukraine, Afghanistan, etc.) . Supports newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition. Offers mentorship programs that pair newcomers and/or refugees with experienced employees .
