Trillium Lakelands District School Board invites applications for the position of Transportation Officer <p> <p>Start<p>Date: As soon as possible<p>Salary: Band<p>3 ($62,660 - $73,303) <p>Hours: 35<p>hours per week <p>Worksite: Muskoka<p>Education Center, Bracebridge, Ontario <p>Posting: MM-2024-09-24-07<p> <p>Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) encompasses the<p>municipalities of the City of Kawartha Lakes, Haliburton County, and the<p>District Municipality of Muskoka. With approximately 16,000 students, TLDSB has<p>41 elementary schools, 7 secondary schools, and 6 alternate education and<p>training centres. <p>Reporting to the Transportation Supervisor, the successful candidate<p>will have a leadership role in the Transportation Department. Specifically, the<p>position is responsible for assisting in the supervision and coordination of<p>the transportation function of the Board; database and software maintenance; and<p>ensuring the continued implementation, maintenance and upgrade of services from<p>both a cost and efficiency perspective according to the Board?s policies,<p>procedures and the guidelines of the Ministry of Education <p>Overall, the Transportation Officer will contribute to student<p>achievement and the TLDSB Mission Statement ?Better<p>together in a safe and caring learning community? by ensuring that<p>qualified students have safe and equitable access to transportation services in<p>order to access TLDSB learning institutions. <p>Primary Responsibilities include : <p><p> Administer daily departmental route planning activities required<p> to operate the transportation system (responsible for a group of routes,<p> schools and Operators);<p> Assist with the creation of transportation routing;<p> Track contract performance management for Operators in their<p> area of responsibility;<p> Receive phone calls, concerns, inquiries from parents, schools<p> and operators;<p> Resolve transportation issues with parents, schools and<p> operators including receiving and investigating complaints, suggestions,<p> supplying appropriate responses and implementing necessary changes;<p> Carry out general office duties which include sending Parent<p> Paid to Drive invoices to Accounting, sending files / templates to third-party<p> providers and managing medical plans of care;<p> Routing<p> Software management, updates, technical support (lead, troubleshoot, report,<p> resolve, share with staff);<p> Assist<p> in the creation / gathering of information for Ministry or Board reporting;<p> Oversee<p> & assist in the contract payment process;<p> Oversee<p> & assist staff in preparing for school start-up by communicating with parents,<p> Operators, schools about pick times, routes (times and schedules) and seating<p> plans;<p> Assist<p> Transportation Supervisor as required, managing staff and department in<p> Supervisor?s absence;<p> Lead<p> designated projects and manage ad-hoc special projects; coordination of<p> Specialized Services Transportation;<p> Perform<p> documentation updates for department and training manuals;<p> Other<p> duties as assigned.<p><p> <p>Education: <p><p> Post-secondary<p> diploma in transportation or equivalent field of study;<p> Additional<p> training courses in computer operation and software programs.<p><p> <p>Experience: <p><p> 2 to 5 years of progressive experience in a<p> school board setting;<p> Working<p> knowledge of Provincial legislation related to school transportation;<p> GIS,<p> routing software experience considered an asset.<p><p> <p>Knowledge/Skill/Ability: <p><p> Excellent<p> interpersonal skills and superior verbal and written communication skills;<p> proven customer service skills especially dealing with difficult people/having<p> difficult conversations;<p> Demonstrated<p> organizational ability, initiative, and attention to detail;<p> Ability<p> to function independently and as a member of a team, dealing with confidential<p> information and multiple priorities in a complex
