Education: Bachelor's degree. Work setting: Construction. Various locations. Willing to relocate. Commercial. Residential. Finance. Tasks: Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs. Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements. Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Prepare tenders and quotations. Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems. Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware. Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites. Survey building locations and levels. Instruct apprentices. Supervise other workers. Estimate costs and materials. Manage finances or budget. Create and submit estimate reports, quote sheets and bids forms. Assist in framing houses, erecting walls and building roofs. Supervision: 3-4 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Carpenter Trade Certification. Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) clearance Certificate. First Aid Certificate. Fall Arrest Protection Training Course. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Own vehicle. Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Handling heavy loads. Large workload. Overtime required. Physically demanding. Work with minimal supervision. Own tools/equipment: Tools. Safety equipment/gear. Steel-toed safety boots. Safety glasses/goggles. Personal suitability: Accurate. Client focus. Reliability. Team player. Punctuality. Screening questions: Are you currently legally able to work in Canada?.
