*Summary*
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the HR Specialist will support all terminals with a focus on benefit?s, disability, worker?s compensation claims and employee relations.
*Duties and Responsibilities*
· Lead the incident reporting system by tracking, measuring and reporting incidents
· Process all workers compensation reports to the appropriate jurisdiction
· Enable and manage return to work programs in partnership with all department and terminal managers, as well as safety
· Track and monitor monthly activity of claims with a focus on program improvement
· Submit and follow-up on all disability claims
· Develop, foster and build alternative programs for accommodation needed by workers
· Creates and builds initiatives that get employees back to regular job routinely
· Fosters relationships with third part providers
· Encourages, demonstrates and practices positive employer-employee relationships that contribute to the productivity and morale that support overall company goals
· Respond and manage employee inquiries pertaining to all benefit programs
· Prepares monthly and quarterly reports
· Assist other team members on recruiting, hiring, and training tasks
· Support the Safety and Health department and program
· Helps in Department Projects as needed
· Complete other duties as necessary in support of Human Resources department needs
*Experience*
· Proven work experience as a WCB, Benefits and/or Human Resources Administrator would be preferred
· Work experience in the transportation industry or related fields would be considered an asset.
· Understanding of benefit plan administration and familiarity with group insurance plans.
*Education*
· Post-secondary education in Human Resources or another related field would be considered an asset.
· Knowledge of federal and provincial laws pertinent to WCB and benefits administration.
*Skills*
· Ability to work independently and in a team environment
· Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
· A positive attitude and excellent people skills
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Strong organizational, priority management, and problem solving skills
