*Overview*
Maynards has been handling fine art, antiques, and rare finds of all kinds for more than 100 years. Our mission is to engage both emerging and established collectors, making artworks of diverse background, style, and price point accessible through both on-site and online venues.
Founded in 1902, in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, Maynards is a traditional fine art and antiques auction house that has sold many of the great estates of the province. We relocated the company headquarters to Vancouver in 1956, and over the course of the next half-century established permanent offices around the globe.
We are seeking a hard-working, self-motivated photographer, capable of working independently, and as a team member to deliver quality photos and services for our auction room in Richmond.
The successful candidate will be part of a small team working in a very busy international auction house working to tight deadlines during weekdays and occasionally weekends shift. Extensive training will be provided.
*RESPONSIBILITIES*
* The photography of inventory for auction and advertising
* Identify and record condition issues.
* Carefully handle items, ensure each has an acceptable standard of presentation.
* Communicate with clients, assist with condition reports and other general sales inquiries.
* Quickly identify workflow issues and coordinate with staff for more effective development of a sale, ensure smooth progression of sales
* Maintain and track inventory, manage and organize items for upcoming auctions and unsold items from past sales.
*QUALIFICATIONS*
* Portfolio showcasing relevant work is required.
* Suitable experience in all aspects of photography with a focus on product photography.
* Excellent computer skills, specifically Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, and Microsoft Office.
* Approachable, positive demeanor with a hands-on and team-oriented work style. Proven analytical and independent problem-solving skills.
* Proven ability to effectively prioritize workflow to ensure deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment. Able to adapt to shifting priorities.
* Strong commitment to customer service.
* Able to assist on the auction floor with clients and staff as required.
* Able to stand and move around for long periods at a time.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate and a good command of written English is essential.
* Interest in art, design, or history is essential.
* Working experience with auction, gallery, artists, or events coordinating is an asset.
* Post-secondary education is preferred.
* A second language is an asset.
