Founded in 1926, E.C. Phillips And Son is a family-owned and operated seafood processing company with operations in Southeast Alaska and Richmond, BC. We are a specialty fresh and frozen seafood processing and distribution company serving both domestic and international markets.
*The Role:*
As a result of our growth, we are seeking a Financial Controller to join our team of accounting professionals. This role will be based in our Richmond , BC office. If you are a Canadian CPA, experienced as a hands-on Controller with a mid size manufacturing company, please consider this opportunity.
Your role will include, but is not limited to:
_Internal accounting functions_
* Overseeing day-to-day accounting activities such as: accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, payroll and expenses, tax filings, including corporate income, and GST/PST/HST
* Developing, managing, and reviewing financial controls
* Developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures to improve internal controls
* Implementing new ERP
_Financial Reporting_
* Managing the compilation and review of annual financial statements
* Preparing monthly financial reporting and internal KPIs as required
* Coordinating the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and performance analysis activities
_Accounting and Tax Compliance_
* Leading the annual financial Audit and Review engagements (ASPE), and assisting with other accounting engagements as applicable
* Researching technical accounting issues for compliance
* Coordinating and reviewing basic tax compliance, including corporate taxes, payroll, GST and forms reporting
*Required Skills, Knowledge or Experience*
* A bachelor?s degree in business/finance/accounting or a related field
* Accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) required
* 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, including 5 years of Controllership experience.
* Knowledge of ASPE and IFRS is required
* Other financial designations are a plus
* Experience dealing with international subsidiaries and operations is a plus
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Excellent attention to detail
* Excellent internal and external relationship management skills.
* Strong analytical, decision making, planning, and organizational skills.
* Comfortable working with autonomy and ownership in a fast-paced environment, taking the initiative to resolve issues
* Experience in manufacturing, food processing, fisheries or aquaculture would also be considered an asset.
