Job details
Testmark Laboratories Ltd., a leader in the provision of analytical testing services, is seeking a *Financial Controller* to manage and oversee the financial operations of the organization. The ideal candidate will be a designated finance professional, with a positive attitude and previous experience successfully managing the accounting function within a mid-sized company.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Manage and lead the financial operations of the organization.
* Review current processes, policies, and procedures, and implement change to achieve efficiencies.
* Ensure effective financial controls are in place and in compliance with provincial and federal legislation, including cash/debt management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, financial reporting and forecasting.
* Oversee and assist with AP and AR activities.
* Oversee and assist with payroll activities.
* Prepare financial statements: cash flow statements, income statements, and balance sheets.
* Manage property holdings and negotiate leaseholds or mortgages as required.
* Coordinate reporting with tax accountant and prepare all necessary tax filing documents.
* Codify day-to-day activities within the accounting department by establishing Standard Operating Procedures.
* Ensure cross-functional training and assessment of Finance personnel.
* Guide, motivate, monitor and supervise staff to ensure the right employees are doing the right job, and that day-to-day tasks are assigned and completed in a timely manner; develop standards of performance, evaluate performance and make recommendations on disciplinary action if required.
* Recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
* Participate in management meetings to offer strategic advice based on financial analysis and projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue and expense analysis.
* Assist with some operational activities as they relate to the business as a whole.
* Maintain, analyze, and interpret financial reports in a timely manner and communicate back to the Management team.
*Education & Experience*
* University degree in a related field.
* Professional accounting designation (CPA) preferred.
* Minimum 5 years work experience in a senior accounting role.
* Willingness to assist with tasks, in addition to managing them.
* Advanced computer and excellent communication skills.
* Proactive and self-motivated.
* Strong organizational, analytical and time management skills.
* Detail oriented.
*Qualifications:*
* Advanced knowledge of accounting software and reporting (Quickbooks Enterprise).
* Proficiency in Office software.
* Demonstrated high-level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts
* Able to prioritize, multi-task and able to work in a changing, fast-paced environment.
* Able to deal with confidential information and demonstrate reliability and dependability.
* Task orientated, able to work well under pressure, willing to work overtime if needed.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Demonstrated superior interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
* Proven success in a similar position with similar responsibilities.
* Successful criminal reference check is required for vulnerable sector.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
