The HR Generalist acts as the first point of contact and plays an integral role in employee services. *About the Job:*
Reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Generalist is a key contributor to the organization, providing employment and labour advice and interpretation. This position ensures the delivery of HR services relating to provides support services and day-to-day administration, processing and maintenance of HR programs and services. Working closely with people leaders and the HR Manager, the HR Generalist ensures positive employee experience and supports all HR services including: investigations, absence management, return to work planning, onboarding new employees, payroll and benefits administration, performance development and management, and other key policies and employee programs.
*Key Responsibilities:*
* Coordinate full-cycle recruitment and selection processes including updating position descriptions, preparing postings and advertisements, screening resumes, conducting reference checks and making verbal and written job offers.
* Plan, conduct and support the employee onboarding process to enable success and promote company goals and culture.
* Ensure and support the accurate and timely administration of payroll and benefits, while ensuring compliance with all applicable legislation and internal policies
* Support people leaders in building and maintaining strong employee & labour relations.
* Handle grievances and participates in negotiations when requested.
* Assist leaders with employee disciplinary issues and/or layoffs and terminations.
* Provide guidance and support on all HR Policies and Procedures. Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations to ensure compliance.
* Conduct proactive communications and engagement initiatives to improve employee experience.
* Assist with the delivery of training programs; Maintain training and certification records.
* Assist with the development and administration of HR programs and other duties as assigned
*Qualifications:*
* Bachelor?s degree in business administration or two (2) years of post-secondary education plus equivalent experience, or an equivalent combination thereof
* Minimum three (3) to five (5) years; experience working in a similar position; experience working in a unionized environment is an asset
* Minimum one (1) year experience in timesheet and payroll data entry
* Proficient in core office programs (e.g. MS Office products) and capable of learning payroll software application; experience with Payworks is an asset
* Excellent interpersonal skills combined with strong customer service skills and the ability to work with multiple personality types
* Demonstrated ability to exhibit a high level of confidentiality
* Knowledge and awareness of all applicable employment laws and legislation
* CPHR Candidate, or working towards, is an asset
*Pay Transparency:*
The expected pay range for this position is $55,000 ? $65,000 per annum.
The actual offer may vary below or above the range depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.
