Post baccalaureate coursework in special education.<p>? Experience teaching students with special needs including autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other neuro-diversities.<p>? Experience using First Peoples ways of Knowing, Doing and Being to support and instruct students.<p>? Experience in the design and implementation of differentiated programming for diverse needs and various grade levels from kindergarten through grade seven. <p>? A working knowledge of the creation and implementation of individual education plans and behavioural support plans within a school-based team.<p> <p>Desired knowledge, skills, and suitability<p>The ideal candidate will possess these qualifications, skills, and knowledge, but also demonstrate suitability for the role and organizational culture:<p>? Knowledge and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of the First Nations people of Yukon and a culturally diverse student population.<p>? Willingness and ability to work as a member of a team and to participate in the total school programs and initiatives.<p>? Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish trusting relationships and work with students, parents, staff members, consultants, and administrators.<p>? Ability to adapt curriculum to meet the needs of students with a range of learning styles and abilities and to meet the needs of students with Individual Educational Plans.<p>? Willingness and experience taking kids on overnight camping trips.<p>? Effective and respectful classroom management based on a developmental understanding of children?s strengths and needs.<p>? A strong commitment to the practice of differentiated instruction, UDL, and assessment within the classroom to meet student needs.<p>? Strong commitment to and proven dedication to support the philosophy, values, and beliefs of the school.<p>Conditions of Employment<p>This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following condition(s) of employment: <p>? To be a Teacher in Yukon, you must be certified in another Canadian province/ territory first.<p>?
