Indigenous Cultural Coordinator <p><p>Position Description: <p>The Indigenous Cultural Coordinator works closely with SD60 staff and Indigenous community members in supporting and promoting cultural awareness and inclusion within the District. As the District Cultural Coordinator you will provide culturally responsive and holistic services to support Indigenous student success. You will collaborate closely with school staff to support the indigenization and reconciliation learning opportunities for student and staff. This position will report to the Principal of Indigenous Education and the Director of Instruction. <p>This position is to start as soon as possible - June 30, 2025 with the possibility of an extension. As this position does not work over the summer months this position is considered a part-time position with an annual FTE of 0.8.<p><p>This is an exempt position and as such is not eligible for overtime and it is not part of a Union.<p><p>Work Year: 10 month (September 1 to June 30)<p>Hours: 40 hours/week, minimum 8 hours per day<p>Benefits: Flexible Benefit Plan<p>Salary range: $59,615 - $74,518<p><p>Key Duties: <p><p> Serve as a cultural liaison between local First Nation Communities, other Indigenous communities, students, parents, and school staff. Facilitate communication and collaboration to ensure cultural needs and perspectives are considered. <p> Advocate for Indigenous students, ensuring their unique needs are addressed, and they have access to resources and support. <p> Organize cultural awareness programs, workshops, and events within schools/district to promote understanding and appreciation of Indigenous cultures, history, and traditions with an emphasis on local First Nation culture and knowledge. <p> Assist in the organization and planning of district cultural events and professional development events hosted by SD 60 Indigenous Education Department.<p> Assist in the development and adaptation of educational resources that reflect Indigenous perspective and content, with an emphasis on local First Nations knowledge/culture, supporting teachers and students in their learning. <p> Maintain and update Indigenous Education pamphlet and website; create and distribute monthly newsletter. <p> Apply for funding from diverse sources, including writing proposals and reports for grant applications.<p> Assists in maintaining up-to-date Indigenous Education department statistics, finances and board reports.<p> Collaborate with local First Nations communities and other Indigenous communities to involve them in the educational process, seeking input on cultural programs. <p> Offer training and professional development opportunities for educators and SD 60 staff to enhance their understanding of Indigenous cultural and pedagogical practices. <p><p> <p>Qualifications and Attributes: <p><p> A preference for candidates with Indigenous heritage, understands and is fluent in a First Nation language and a deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions and perspectives.<p> At least 2 years post secondary education in Social Work, Youth Care, Indigenous Studies, and related experience. Bachelor's Degree is preferred.<p> Significant experience in Indigenous education, community engagement, or related fields, demonstrating a track record of advocacy for Indigenous students. <p> Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, educational staff and community members. <p> Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and the ability to foster inclusive and respectful environments. <p> Excellent organizational and project management skills to plan and execute cultural events and programs.<p> Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders to achieve common goals. <p> Flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing needs and circumstances within the educational system. <p> Valid driver's license as this position will require travel to schools and First Na
