Ideal Candidate:
* *Experience:* 5 years of experience in all facets of the full accounting function, including AR/AP.
* *Education:* Recent formal accounting training, preferably a post-secondary diploma or degree.
* *Industry Knowledge:* Experience in property management within the accounting department is an asset.
* *Skills:*
* Ability to multi-task in a progressive and expanding business.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet timelines.
* Strong analytical skills to review and analyze accounting transactions.
* Good interpersonal skills.
Software Skills Required:
* Advanced knowledge of Excel, MS Word, and Outlook.
* Experience with Yardi Voyageur Property Management Software.
* Familiarity with Payworks Payroll Processing Software.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will work within the accounting department, cross-training in all areas of accounting. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
*Financial Reporting and Analysis:*
* *Bank Reconciliations:* Ensure accurate reconciliation of bank accounts to maintain financial integrity.
* *Monthly Financial Statements:* Prepare and review monthly financial statement reporting packages to provide insights into financial performance.
* *General Ledger (GL) Analysis:* Perform GL analysis of variances to identify and explain discrepancies.
* *Balance Sheet Reconciliation:* Reconcile and understand all balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
* *Cash Management:* Monitor cash positions and anticipate future cash deficiencies to maintain adequate liquidity.
* *Reserve Accounts:* Reconcile reserve accounts to ensure proper fund allocation and usage.
*Compliance and Audit:*
* *Year End Processes:* Prepare Year End working paper files for auditors and liaise with auditors to facilitate the audit process.
* *Tax Compliance:* Prepare and submit HST returns where applicable to ensure compliance with tax regulations.
*Payroll and Budgeting:*
* *Payroll Processing:* Accurately processes payroll to ensure timely and correct payment to employees.
* *Budget Preparation:* Assist in the preparation of yearly budgets to support financial planning and management.
*Accounts Payable and Receivable:*
* *Accounts Payable:* Manage accounts payable processes, including invoice verification and payment processing.
* *Accounts Receivable:* Handle accounts receivable functions, including invoicing and collections to maintain cash flow.
*Internal Coordination and Collaboration:*
* *Interdepartmental Liaison:* Work with other departments to ensure a clear understanding of financial information and promote effective communication.
* *Property Onboarding/Offboarding:* Manage the onboarding of new properties and the offboarding of outgoing properties to ensure smooth transitions.
*Process Improvement and Special Projects:*
* *Process Improvement:* Collaborate with the team to identify and implement improvements in processes and controls.
* *Ad-hoc Projects:* Handle ad-hoc projects as assigned by Senior Management to support business objectives and strategic initiatives.
