The Halifax Convention Centre is part of the Nova Centre, a million-square-foot, mixed-use development that includes a hotel, office towers, and retail space. It is the largest integrated development project in the province's history.THE POSITION:The Halifax Convention Centre managed by Events East Group is now inviting applications for the position of Food and Beverage Server 2 with our catering team.Reporting to the Senior Food and Beverage Captain, the Food and Beverage Server 2 is responsible for providing friendly, professional, and efficient service to Halifax Convention Centre guests. Food and Beverage Servers at the Halifax Convention Centre are friendly, courteous and generous with smiles. Working within a professional service team, the Food and Beverage Server 2 is responsible for completing various tasks which include but are not limited to food and beverage service, reception service, bartending and wine service.Under the guidance of Food and Beverage Server 1, the Food and Beverage Server 2 will provide support for various tasks including assisting with breaks, set-up, tear-down, and various other event-related duties, as directed by the shift captain.This permanent core hourly position will operate in the Halifax Convention Centre.THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Operations:Treat equipment with respect and in accordance with job procedures and operational standardsPerform assigned tasks to support the overall execution of events as directed by the shift captain, which may be further delegated by the Food and Beverage Server 1.Deliver event breaks in a manner laid out by the event order, as directed by the shift captain.Assist in set-ups and teardowns in accordance with Halifax Convention Centre standards.Using guidelines laid out by the Halifax Convention Centre and the NSLC, tend the bar(s) and serve wine to guests.Assist the shift captain in decision-making and prioritizing tasks by providing requested information, as required.Work offsite events when necessary (i.e. Scotiabank Centre or other catering required events).Communicate any food and beverage concerns or issues to Food and Beverage Server 1, the shift captain, and the Event Manager.Maintain and organize stock and inventory levels including the storage and cleanliness of both front and back of house spaces, as directed.Welcome all guests with an open and friendly demeanor.Be attentive to event needs, ensuring tasks are completed in a timely manner and in consideration of events taking place throughout the building (i.e. noise sensitivities).Cultivate positive relationships across the organization and with guests.Other duties as required.Training & Development:Actively and constructively participate in meetings, projects, and working groups, as assigned.Participate fully in all training and development initiatives.Health & Safety:Report all safety hazards to the direct supervisor as soon as is reasonably possible. Take action to correct the safety hazard if possible and reasonable.Report all near miss and incidents to the direct supervisor as soon as is reasonably possible. Actively participate in the near miss and incident investigation process.Wear, use, and ensure the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required, report any issues or violations within the team or onsite to the direct supervisor.Report any damaged PP
