\*Job Overview\*
Are you an enthusiastic Optometrist looking to make a significant impact in a dynamic all comprehensive ophthalmology medical practice and surgical center. We are a fast paced office looking for a passionate individual to join our team and provide exceptional medical co-management and dry eye services. The practice is well-equipped with the latest technology to provide medical eye care services and has a large support team of receptionists, diagnostic staff and ophthalmic technicians.
\*Duties\*
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations, including assessments of visual acuity, refractive errors, and ocular health.
- Diagnose and treat visual conditions
- Collaborate and communicate with ophthalmologists and other health care providers to assess, diagnose and manage various eye conditions, such as cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy
- Provide specialized care for patients suffering from dry eye syndrome, including diagnosis, treatment, and management strategies. Interpret Meibography (LipiScan), Tear Break up, Schirmers test, review SPEED Scores and ocular surface exam findings to educate the patient about treatment options. Treatment technology available includes: BlephEx, LipiFlow, Manual Expression, Intense Pulse Light (IPL), Punctal Plugs (Temp & Permanent), Autologous Serum Tears
-- Educate patients on maintaining optimal eye health and preventing eye diseases through lifestyle changes and proper eye care practices.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records of patient examinations, diagnoses, treatment plans and communicate with co-managing providers.
- Prescribe medications as needed
- Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries
\*Skills\*
- Proficiency in using Accuro or similar electronic health record systems
- Experience in senior care is a plus
- Excellent patient care abilities with a focus on empathy and communication
- Familiarity with optical equipment and tools
\*\*Requirements\*\*:
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid license to practice optometry in British Columbia
- Strong clinical skills with a focus on diagnosing and managing ocular surface conditions in order to optimize surgical refractive outcomes
- Experience in providing dry eye services and utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and treatment modalities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively educate and counsel patients.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality patient care in a collaborative team environment.
- Dedication to staying current with advancements in optometry and dry eye management through continuing education and professional development.
