Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Dusty. Outdoors. Work setting: Construction. Relocation costs not covered by employer. Commercial. Supervision. Tasks: Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements. Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware. Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites. Instruct apprentices. Supervise other workers. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Carpenter Trade Certification. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Handling heavy loads. Overtime required. Physically demanding. Work with minimal supervision. Own tools/equipment: Tools. Steel-toed safety boots. Hard hat. Personal suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills.
