Effective immediately to June 30, 2025, or the return of the incumbent whichever is earlier, in whole or in part. <p>Position Description :?NATSAMAHT Education Teacher (NET) <p>The NATSAMAHT Education Teacher (NET) works collaboratively in a team capacity with school and district staff to implement an Indigenous Education targeted program with continuous service to Indigenous learners in their classrooms. The programs and services are intended to improve academic achievement as well as deepen the understanding of Indigenous perspectives and content already being offered in a middle school classroom. NATSAMAHT staff maintain ongoing service records that comply with Ministry of Education Indigenous Education Targeted Funds policy. NATSAMAHT programs and services are guided by the NATSAMAHT Enhancement Agreement, the NATSAMAHT Indigenous Education Council (IEC) and Local Education Agreements where applicable. The NET understands and maintains professional boundaries, follows cultural protocols of Local First Nations, and promotes authentic Indigenous learning resources which align with the provincial curriculum.<p>Degree/Diploma/Certificate specializing in Indigenous Education/Studies or a minimum of three university courses at the 300 level or higher related to Indigenous Education/Studies. <p>Preferred Qualifications :<p>Experience that demonstrates awareness and understanding of Indigenous Education Targeted Dollars and 1701 Ministry of Education guidelines <p>Experience designing and implementing cross-curricular Indigenous themed projects and events<p>Experience that demonstrates an understanding of cultural protocols and professional boundaries when working with Indigenous communities<p>Experience and understanding how the First Peoples Principles of Learning and Indigenous perspectives are embedded with the BC curriculum and competencies<p>Oral and written fluency in an Indigenous language would be an asset <p>The starting annual salary for this teaching position ranges from $58,635 to $106,217, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
