Employee Assistance ProgramProfessional Development OpportunitiesPURPOSE AND KEY FOCUSTo provide services and supports that promotes the Okanagan Indian Band`s (OKIB) community health and wellness vision and plan. Under the direction of the Health Programs, Integrated Care Manager the Social Worker will be responsible for developing and delivering services to community members with a focus on enhancing mental health and working with families to prevent crisis.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESProvide crisis intervention and be available for some afterhours calls with the Ministry of Children and Families Understand the Child, Family and Community Service Act and other relevant legislation Assist individuals and families to navigate government services (example MCFD, CLBC, CYSN) Liaise & consult with community agencies, schools, hospitals, & other social service agencies Administer mental health related assessments as appropriate Maintain a basic knowledge of psychotropic medications as prescribed by a physician, & maintain an awareness of the effects of such medications Maintain appropriate client, & administrative records Work in a collaborative team environment to ensure effective, efficient, & accountable delivery of service Promote & maintain working relationships with community partners Develop & deliver psychoeducational workshops to OKIB staff as well as clients & their families. Comply with code of ethics in respect to professional designation & relevant legislation Perform all duties & responsibilities in accordance with the OKIB policies & procedures All persons employed by the OKIB may be required to assist the Band in providing emergency services.
