Position: K-7 PE, Outdoor and Indigenous Education Support Teacher <p>School: Nakusp Elementary School <p>FTE: 1.0 Continuing <p>Effective: September 3, 2024 <p>Salary Range: $63,192 - $112,685 <p> <p><p>School District 10, in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern BC is situated on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Sinixt Peoples. We?re looking for an enthusiastic and creative educator and have a great team of principals/vice principals, teachers, support staff, parents, students, and community for you to work alongside. School District 10's purpose is to build a collaborative community of learning, including strong academics, overall well-being, and a connection to the land, in order to provide our students with the knowledge and skills they require to navigate an ever-changing future. The successful candidate is someone who is committed to helping us achieve our purpose. <p><p> <p>Required characteristics/ strengths include: <p><p> Major in Physical Education, Sport Science, Kinesiology, or Outdoor Education at the university level is desirable<p> Successful PE and Health Education teaching experience at the primary and intermediate level is desirable<p> Undergrad or postgraduate diploma or coursework in Indigenous Studies and Aboriginal Education would be an asset<p> Interest in engaging and learning from local Elders, Indigenous communities, and Aboriginal Education Councils <p> Experience in planning and designing engaging Indigenous education learning activities, and experience teaching the BC curriculum would be an asset<p> A keen interest and passion for teaching outdoor and environmental education<p> Demonstrated skills and experience implementing technology to support learning and teaching<p> Successful experience integrating socio-emotional learning and self-regulation in the classroom<p> Strong interpersonal skills and strengths working in a team environment <p> Excellent classroom management skills and proven ability to engage all learners <p> Commitment to co-developing the School Growth Plan and to collaboration in organizing the school and classroom for learning <p> Exemplary use of assessment strategies that engage and foster learning<p> Strengths in teaching and engaging all learners in multi-grade classrooms which foster equity and inclusion<p> Commitment and expertise building relationships with parents and community<p> Willingness to participate in the school's extra-curricular programs is an asset<p><p> <p>All applicants for this position should provide evidence of expertise or experience as relates to the position.
