Job Description Child Youth Care Worker I-Withdrawal Management, Temporary Call InHope Valley Youth Treatment Centre, Grand Falls-WindsorDefinition of Work:The Youth Addictions Treatment Centre is a twelve-bed facility with a mandate to provide in-house addictions, mental health treatment, and withdrawal management services to youth between the ages of 12 and 18 with complex addictions and mental health needs. Services are provided by a multidisciplinary team using evidence-based approaches to the treatment of substance use issues experienced by youth and their families. The Child Youth Care Worker - Withdrawal Management is an integral member of the multidisciplinary treatment team and reports to the Regional Manager of Mental Health & Addictions. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements. The Hope Valley Treatment Centre is home to a Therapy Dog which is often used as part of therapeutic programming for clients. Employees will have regular contact with the Therapy Dog and will share responsibilities associated with the care of the dog. The Child Youth Care Worker I - Withdrawal Management* Participates in the development and implementation of therapeutic programs and environments.* Utilizes daily life events to facilitate change through the development of therapeutic relationships with young people.* Participates as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team in the development and monitoring of individual treatment plans.* Participates in policy development training and program planning.* Implements the adopted clinical model and monitors fidelity to the model.* Assists in maintaining the health of youth by monitoring their physical condition as necessary and dispensing medication as required.Required qualifications:* Graduation from high school with a diploma recognized by the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.* Successful completion of a two year child and youth care diploma program approved by Central Health.* Graduation from a licensed practical nurse program approved by Central Health.* Currently registered with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Newfoundland & Labrador.* A minimum of two (2) years within the last five (5) years' experience working with youth with substance use and/or complex mental health issues.* Current BLS certification. * Training in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for children and youth in care.* Training in suicide intervention. * Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication skills, team building and collaboration skills, as well as, networking and time management skills.* Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of intervention techniques including emerging evidence-based clinical practice. * Satisfactory Child, Youth and Family Services records check.* A valid driver's license.* Consistent demonstration of the core values of NL Health Services: Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence (I CARE)* A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.* A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.Preferred qualifications: * An undergraduate degree in Child and Youth Care. * Demonstrated proficiency with computers, relevant computer software, and competency in accessing internet resources.Hours of Work: Call as Needed (Shift work may be required)Salary: CG-31 ($31.58-$34.79)Competition No: P-2024000389-HVCClosing Date: Open Until FilledCentral Health is an equal opportunity employer.We thank all candidates however only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
