Language Assessor The Greater Essex County District School Board invites applications from qualified applicants for the<p>unionized position (O.S.S.T.F.-L.E.S.E.) of full-time, permanent, Language Assessor. Under the<p>direction of the Language Assessment and Resource Centre (LARC) Program Supervisor, the<p>Language Assessor plays an integral role in the successful integration of newcomers in the community.<p>Job Summary: <p>POSITION: Language Assessor<p>HOURS OF WORK: 35 hours per week<p>START DATE: As soon as possible<p>Nature & Scope of Position: Conduct assessments to confirm clients eligibility for language training classes.<p> Determine clients Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLBs) using the most appropriate and<p> current assessment tool. Review assessment results with clients, refer clients to classes and provide information about next<p> steps. Input necessary data into the History of Assessment, Referrals and Training Systems (HARTs)<p> database. Navigate the HARTS database to provide clients with information on available language classes at<p> federally or provincially funded Language Training Providers (LTPs). Develop a comprehensive understanding of local LTPs, including their language training delivery<p> model, schedule of classes and related services offered such as childcare, and accessibility. Travel within Windsor-Essex County and Chatham-Kent, Ontario is required to provide<p> assessment services. Assume other duties/responsibilities related to client/program needs as determined by the<p> Program Supervisor. Demonstrate a commitment to and documented success in working to create a fair, inclusive, antiracist environment for all stakeholders, and to supporting diverse constituencies and populations.Qualifications: Superior interpersonal and customer service skills as well as cultural awareness. Ability to calmly and effectively multi-task. Certification in a language assessment tool such as the Canadian Language Benchmarks<p> Placement Test (CLBPT), Canadian Language Benchmarks Placement Assessment (CLBPA) or<p> the Batterie de tests de classement aux Niveaux de comptence linguistique canadiens<p> (BTCNCLC) is considered an asset. A recognized university degree. Experience teaching English or French as a second language to adults. Valid and active Teachers of English as a Second Language (TESL) Ontario Accreditation. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to learn new computer programs/software and proficiency in internet navigation. Must have reliable transportation to travel to various work locations within Windsor-Essex County<p> and Chatham-Kent.
