Responsibilities
Tasks

Assign projects to subordinates and staff related to work safety, environmental safety and accident prevention.

Investigate outbreaks of diseases and food poisoning

Provide information/training to employers, employees and general public

Conduct surveys and monitoring programs of the natural environment

Establish and implement policies and procedures

Inspect spills of hazardous chemicals or products

Inspect workplaces for safety or health hazards

Investigate workplace accidents or illnesses

Initiate enforcement procedures to fine or close an establishment

Manage training and development strategies

Oversee the analysis of employee data and information

Oversee development of communication strategies

Develop and implement health and safety plans

Ensure health and safety regulations are followed

Advise senior management

Respond to employee questions and complaints

Evaluate work environments, programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury
