Job Description Recreation Therapy Worker II - Long Term CarePermanent Part Time 50%Location: Labrador City, NL(PCN: 56717POS)About the Role The Recreation Therapy Worker is a member of the interdisciplinary team who completes leisure inventories, implements recreation and leisure activities. This is based on residents individualized or group needs, skills, abilities, and interests, and provides documentation and communication of resident's participation and progress. The Recreation Therapy Worker in collaboration with other service staff plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates the group activities and special events for Long-term care residents. He/she is also responsible for the safe delivery of the service. Other duties as assigned. The Recreation Therapy Worker reports directly to the Resident Care Manager.Qualifications:" Graduation from an approved/recognized college with a two-year diploma in Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation with major course work in Therapeutic Recreation." Experience working as a Recreation Therapy Worker in a health care setting is an asset" Knowledge in the planning, organization and implementation of recreation, leisure, and social programs" Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills" Demonstrated ability to have a positive, respectful, and sensitive approach to the needs of the patients/clients/residents" Knowledge of computer skills including Microsoft word, power point, and excel databases and spreadsheets" Current certification in BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support);" Completion of Gentle Persuasive Approach Course (GPA) or willingness to complete" Completion of Management of Aggressive Behavior Course (MOAB) or willingness to complete" Breastfeeding education or willingness to complete within specified timeframe" Possession of a class IV driver's license will be required." A satisfactory driver's abstract is required." The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct and vulnerable sector check.Duties: (Included but not limited to)" Works as part of the interdisciplinary team to assist with creating, maintaining, and evaluation resident's care plans." Develops, organizes, and participates in recreational activities for residents and families;" Arranges for special events in consultation with coordinator or designate;" Provides individual instruction and demonstration to residents with special needs;" Collaborates with interdisciplinary team regarding quarterly and yearly reviews;" Participates in Resident Family council meetings, staff meetings and other collaborative activities as required."
