<p>SIGN LANGUAGE<p>INTERPRETER The Simcoe County District<p>School Board is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Sign Language<p>Interpreter/Tutor. The successful candidate is responsible to<p>provide interpreting/translating services for a specific student. School <p> Location <p> Principal<p> Name <p> FTE & Hours <p> Status <p> Schedule Elmvale DHS<p> Elmvale<p> Mark Ruzylo 1.0 FTE or 35 hours/week. <p> Permanent <p> Full days daily Salary Range: $26.31 - $32.41 per hour Qualifications <p>Required: Three<p>year Interpreter diploma or equivalent. Six months to one year related<p>experience. Fluent in American Sign Language and capable of interpreting.<p>Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. The ability<p>to work collaboratively with interpreters, teachers, students and other staff.<p>Knowledge of cross-cultural issues of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Reviews and<p>maintains a full range of educational curriculum materials for the purpose of<p>interpretation. Provide student with interpretation in American Sign in a<p>variety of classroom settings such as lectures, field trips, assemblies and<p>elective programs. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal,<p>Special Education, in collaboration with the school Principal (student<p>conferencing, researching data, developing information kits). Attendance at<p>meetings outside normal working hours may be required.<p>Preferred: Experience within the Education environment. Ontario<p>Interpreter Services registration (OIS) or AVLIC Certification preferred.This position works the<p>school year. A full-time (1.0 FTE) Interpreter works<p>35 hours per week. The<p>duties, responsibilities and requirements for this position are not limited to<p>the above but may include all of those in the Job Fact Sheet for Sign Language<p>Interpreter/Tutor.Participation<p>in the OMERS Pension Plan is mandatory for all full-time permanent employees, <p>even if<p>currently in receipt of an OMERS pension.
