Stay to experience a progressive career path with an employer that is dedicated in providing a positive working environment, along with competitive compensation and benefits! <p>POSITION: <p>Permanent Licensed Maintenance/ Certified Electrician <p>40 hours per week, Monday-Friday <p>LOCATION: <p>Bluewater District School Board, Maintenance Shop<p>R.R. 4, Owen Sound (Rockford) <p>REPORTS TO : <p>Kevin Schaab, Supervisor Building Systems <p>Michael Spendik, Assistant Manager Plant Operations<p>Brent Wathke, Supervisor - Facilities Services <p>START DATE: As soon as possible <p>NOTE: CUPE members must abide by all articles in the CUPE Local 1176 Collective Agreement. <p>POSITION SUMMARY: <p>The Electrician will respond to repairs and maintenance needs of the electrical systems and associated controls. Perform service, maintenance and other duties as assigned related to the repair and operation of the Board's buildings, equipment and sites. <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ability to work as a team player with excellent interpersonal skills; Capable of working under various levels of supervision, with other departments and other maintenance personnel (whether the Board's or contracted).<p> Ability to prioritize the order in which work orders are completed.<p> Must work with sensitivity to the educational environment within the Board.<p> Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work.<p> Must be able to work with minimal supervision and to be competent in the use and care of tools and equipment common to the trade.<p> Keen problem-solving abilities in determining effective, efficient solutions and implementing appropriate courses of action.EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Successful completion of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, preferably in a technical program<p> The applicant must also possess Journeyman status, with a Certificate of Qualification from the Ministry of Education, Skills and Apprenticeship Branch as a licensed tradesperson in Ontario (Electrician - Construction and Maintenance 309A required), with experience directly related to the maintenance and repair of industrial/commercial or large institutional facilities<p> Minimum of three or more years of experience in the electrical trade with specific duties related to operation and maintenance. <p> Knowledge and experience in the use of a wide variety of trade related and maintenance tools/ equipment.<p> Knowledge of associated government codes and demonstrated ability to work within those laws and guidelines.<p> Knowledge and experience with finishes and hardware in an institutional and commercial setting<p> Must be physically fit, capable of performing a variety of maintenance tasks that will require the use of hard hat, respirators, safety belts, safety footwear and other personal protective equipment as required.<p> Must be capable of heavy lifting and other strenuous physical activity such as kneeling; climbing ladders; working on the back, sides and above shoulder for extended periods of time; working in confined spaces; working on scaffolds, lifts or elevated equipment
