Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: At heights. Work setting: Construction. Tasks: Install electrical controls and panel boxes. Replace and repair electrical controls and panel boxes. Professionalism in customer service. Design and construct single-phase service for single or multimeter installations. Splice, join and connect wires. Test and measure voltage, loads, ground faults integrity of circuits. Determine appropriate selection of materials and methods for hazardous locations. Troubleshoot and isolate faults. Install surface mount and/or overhead cables. Instruct apprentices. Install power generation, stand-by power generation and power conditioning systems. Supervise other workers. Estimate costs and materials. Renovate electrical systems in residential and commercial structures. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Interpret electrical code specifications. Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations. Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance. Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices. Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records. Replace or repair electrical components. Install electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, lighting fixtures and other electrical components. Equipment and machinery experience: Conventional electrical devices. Hand tools. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Own tools/equipment: Tools. Steel-toed safety boots. Hard hat. Screening questions: Are you currently legally able to work in Canada?.
