*Position Overview:*
Reporting to the Manager of Zero Waste, Wasteco is seeking a professional, reliable and highly motivated individual with a passion for sustainable waste management to fill the position of Sustainably Advisor. The successful candidate will help customers understand and manage the waste aspects of their environmental footprint by conducting detailed waste characterization audits analyzing the data, and compiling the findings in reports.
*Responsibilities:*
The Sustainability Advisor will primarily be responsible for scheduling and audit set up, conducting thorough audits, analyzing the data and preparing reports. Specific responsibilities include:
· Scheduling audits and managing the calendar, which includes adjusting services with our dispatch, the client and our team.
· Planning audit methodology and procedures per clients? needs and requirements.
· Physical sorting and quantification of waste and recycling materials, recording data and taking photos.
· Assessing sites and making observations that can contribute to findings.
· Analyzing data and preparing reports of findings.
· Providing recommendations to improve environmental performance based on findings.
· Reviewing and editing reports for accuracy.
· Participating in Earth Month, Waste Reduction Week and other special events designed to communicate and educate sustainable waste management practices with clients.
· Administrative tasks such as data entry, printing, filing, etc.
· Additional projects as requested.
*Preferred Qualifications*
· Recent graduate of an accredited University or College Degree in a related field (preferably environmental management, environmental sciences or environmental technician with a focus or interest in waste management).
· An understanding of, and interest in current environmental and waste management issues, relevant environmental legislation, and familiarity with BOMA, LEED and/or 3R Certification requirements for waste management.
· Highly developed computer skills and an ability to learn new programs quickly. Competency in MS Office (word, excel, outlook) is mandatory.
· Meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills.
· Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
· Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
· Team player with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
· LEED Green Associate, Standard Waste Audit Method training an asset.
· First Aid certification an asset.
*Qualifications*
· Valid driver?s license with clean abstract required; full time access to a reliable vehicle.
· Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends.
· Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
*Work Environment *
· This position takes place in both the office and on the road at customer sites.
· This position is a minimum of 40 hours a week.
· Occasional travel outside the GTA may be required.
