JOB POSTING:<p>MANAGER, FINANCIAL SERVICES <p> The Sudbury Catholic District School Board is located in Northeastern Ontario and serves approximately 6,800 students in 17 schools located in Greater Sudbury, as well as in Killarney. <p> Our School Board is host to and celebrates diverse cultures and is comprised of dedicated staff committed to high quality education that inspires and promotes lifelong learning. The Board is currently seeking a Manager, Financial Services to join our dynamic team.<p> Reporting to the Executive Superintendent of Business and Finance, the Manager, Financial Services is primarily responsible providing senior administration with both financial and strategic advice on all aspects of financial management, reporting and related issues. This includes resource allocation and allocation decisions, budget forecasts for preliminary and revised estimates, financial planning, analysis and implications on proposed operational decisions. They will provide interpretation, advice, and recommendations on application of legislation, regulations, ministerial directives and organizational policies and procedures, prepare and analyze resource planning and allocations, consolidating financial plans and submissions while providing advice and recommendations to address and resolve issues related to the submission and approval of the Boards financial requirements, as well as develop and implement corporate accounting, reporting, internal control, and risk assessments for the organization.<p> ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS University degree in a related discipline.<p> Professional accounting designation and/or a Masters in a related field.<p> A minimum of five years of recent, work-related experience in finance, with two years in a progressively responsible supervisory role.<p> Recent experience creating and managing operating and capital budgets.<p> Experience in a school board setting and knowledge of the Education Act and Regulations is considered an asset. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES Strong knowledge of analytical and problem-solving methods as well as cost/benefit and risk analysist techniques and practices.<p> Strong knowledge and experience in Excel and data manipulation and analysis as well as the ability to communicate information effectively.<p> Strong knowledge of the theories and principles of financial and management accounting, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principals and accounting concepts and practices. <p> Knowledge of the financial control and accounting systems of the board and the ability to retrieve in a timely and accurate manner to facilitate the financial reporting requirements of management.<p> Knowledge of the Mission, Vision and Values of the Board, as well as the organizational structure, operational plan, relationships, and roles with the organization.<p> Strong communication and interpersonal skills to demonstrate and explain general and complex accounting theories, policies, and practices.<p> Ability to respond in a reasonable manner to inquiries from other departments, various ministries, and the public. <p> Skill is required in adapting the format and content of communication for audiences with varying ranges of financial sophistication.<p> Ability to conduct training and information sessions of management, employees, and new staff.<p> Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to provide accurate and timely information while managing multiple conflicting deadlines.
