*THE OPPORTUNITY*

Reporting to the CFO, this individual will lead the accounting department through a pivotal transformation, implementing modern systems and processes to enhance operational efficiency and financial accuracy. This senior role involves overseeing the accounting functions of four business units across 6 entities, managing a team of 6 to 8 direct reports, and ensuring seamless integration of new technologies.
The ideal candidate will be an inclusive, positive, and dynamic leader with a CPA designation and experience working in the Calgary market. They will have a firm understanding of all areas of financial accounting and ideally experience in credit and collections. They are keen on working with modern digital accounting systems and bringing innovative ideas onboard to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
*WHAT YOU WILL DO*
* Lead and manage the accounting team, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities.
* Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for all business entities.
* Collaborate with the CFO to develop and implement strategic plans and goals for the accounting department.
* Lead the selection, implementation, and maintenance of accounting software and other financial systems.
* Ensure all financial systems are optimized for efficiency and effectiveness.
* Oversee the credit approval process, including the evaluation and approval of credit applications and setting credit limits.
* Develop and implement credit policies and procedures to optimize credit risk management and collection efficiency.
* Manage the accounts receivable portfolio to ensure timely collections and minimize bad debt.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards (ASPE)
* Prepare for and manage review and compilation engagements.
* Implement and monitor compliance with company policies and procedures.
*WHAT YOU WILL BRING*
* CPA designation is required.
* Bachelor?s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior accounting role.
* Proven experience with system implementation and digital transformation initiatives.
* Strong project management skills.
* Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
* Advanced knowledge of accounting software and financial systems.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Brings an innovative perspective with a positive attitude.
