Tasks: Inspect, measure and mark surfaces to be covered. Measure, cut and fasten underlay and underpadding. Prepare flooring plans and scheduling. Prepare tenders and quotations. Measure, cut and install resilient floor coverings. Prepare and install hardwood floors. Inspect and repair damaged floor coverings. Conduct moisture, ph, temperature and other tests prior to flooring installations. Estimate costs and materials. Prepare floors for installations. Remove existing floor coverings and contaminants. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Occupational Health and Safety Certificate. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Installation specialization: Vinyl or resilient tiles. Vinyl or resilient sheets. Hardwood strip flooring. Borders or feature strips. Hardwood intricate patterns flooring. Parquet flooring. Cork flooring. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Handling heavy loads. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Ability to distinguish between colours. Hand-eye co-ordination. Own tools/equipment: Safety equipment/gear. Steel-toed safety boots. Hard hat. Gloves. Mask. Personal suitability: Client focus.
