Reporting to the Director, Corporate Affairs, the Manager, Permits & Compliance is responsible for the development, evolution, planning, and execution of local industry compliance programs and procedures to support the oversight of local industry and for managing the operations of the Permit office. A key element of the role will be to establish productive regulatory relationships with local producers to support overall compliance and permitting activities, to educate local producers on policy and regulatory requirements, and for the continuous improvement of policy and regulatory development.ResponsibilitiesEssential ResponsibilitiesDevelop and evolve a compliance program for local beverage alcohol manufacturers to ensure compliance with NSLC policies, regulations, and permit terms and conditions.Prepare quarterly and annual plans of compliance program activitiesExecute compliance visits and report findings to local producers and senior management. Prepare memorandums to document the findings of compliance activities and any required follow-up. Maintain a positive and collaborative working relationship with local producers to support compliance and education activities.Prepare periodic reports for management and the Audit Committee to summarize compliance activities and findings.Identify and collaboratively develop solutions to resolve specific issues arising from the compliance program that impact the NSLC permit process.Plan and assist with stakeholder and local industry engagement in partnership with the Local Engagement team.Assist in NSLC local industry policy and process development or evolution, leveraging insights gained while executing the compliance and supervising the permit process for local manufacturers.Develop and execute special compliance reviews as required.Lead continuous improvement of the NSLC's Local Producer Compliance ProgramManage the Permits Office, lead all aspects of the permitting process for local manufacturers and liase with Alcohol Gaming Fuel & Tobacco (AGFT) and the Department of Agriculture as requiredSupervise the Permits and Regulatory Affairs Analyst and engage with local industry as required in support of the permit office activitiesSecondary ResponsibilitiesSupport the Director, Corporate Affairs on inter-governmental issues related to local manufacturersMaintain up to date detailed knowledge of the Liquor Control Act, NSLC Regulations, as well as NSLC policies relevant to local producersMaintain working knowledge of Liquor Licensing RegulationsDemonstrate commitment to NSLC's ValuesDemonstrate commitment to the NSLC's social responsibility mandateDemonstrate commitment to workplace health and safetyPerform special project and other related duties as assignedQualificationsAs a qualified candidate you will have:Undergraduate degree in Commerce or Business Administration3-5 years of related experienceValid NS Driver's License and have regular access to a vehicle for frequent travel required across the province, including overnight.As an ideal candidate you will have:Previous experience in an audit or compliance roleExperience working in SAPExperience in the retail sector, preferably in retail leadershipAn alternate combination of education and experience may be considered equivalent.Other InformationIf you are interested in being considered for this opportunity, please apply online no later than 11:59 pm on August 29, 2024.
