Responsibilities
Tasks

Advise clients of their legal rights and all matters related to law

Perform administrative functions related to the practice of law

Plead clients' cases before courts of law, tribunals and boards (lawyers only)

Draw up legal documents and prepare statements of legal opinion

Negotiate settlements of civil disputes (lawyers only)

Represent interests of corporation/employer in all business related to legal matters

Act as executor, trustee or guardian in estate matters

Offer mediation, conciliation and arbitration services

Supervise professional, para-legal and support staff and articling students

Research legal precedents and gather evidence
