CNC (computer numerical control) machinist

Job details
Education: College/CEGEP. or equivalent experience. Work setting: General manufacturing. Tasks: Compute dimensions and tolerances of machine parts. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables. Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance. Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments. Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances. Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports. Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers). Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools. Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Measuring tools: Micrometers. Callipers. Gauges. Verniers. Computer and technology knowledge: Mastercam CAD/CAM. Equipment and machinery experience: Drill presses. Milling machines. Sawing machine. Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Computer-aided design (CAD). Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Ability to work independently. Fast-paced environment. Attention to detail. Own tools/equipment: Safety equipment/gear. Steel-toed safety boots. Safety glasses/goggles. Personal suitability: Accurate. Efficient interpersonal skills. Flexibility.
