Are you a Junior Accountant with 3-4 years of full cycle accounting experience, and currently enrolled in the CPA Program? This position will be a 15-month maternity leave cover position, that may well evolve into permanent employment.
Coastal Pacific Xpress (CPX) is currently seeking a passionate and motivated *Junior Accountant* to join our winning team!

*ABOUT THE ROLE:*
The Junior Accountant will provide financial and accounting support to our Finance Department at CPX. This position is responsible for general accounting functions, preparing journal entries, maintaining balance sheet schedules and ledgers, and performing General Ledger account reconciliations and analyses. The Junior Accountant will assist with various accounting related tasks to help accomplish team objectives.
Reporting into the Senior Accountant, Team Lead, your responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:
* Reconciles and analyzes accruals with appropriate working papers and supporting documentation.
* Prepares and books adjustments resulting from the reconciliation and analysis.
* Promotes strong control and clear cut-off procedures during month-end.
* Prepares bank reconciliations for multiple companies in CAD and USD.
* Manage accounts payable aging and other accounts payable related tasks as needed.
* Work closely with the finance team to ensure proper accounting and internal controls are maintained on a company-wide basis.
* Assists in preparation and compilation of reporting packages for the senior management.
* Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including intercompany, consolidations and elimination entries between subsidiaries at a consolidated level.
* Assist with quarterly reviews and year-end audits.
* Prepare various ad-hoc reports in a timely and accurate manner.
* Assists in process improvement and workflow streamlining projects.
* Assists in implementation and testing of new systems.
* Support with ad hoc projects and system change implementations as they arise.
* Other tasks as assigned
*WHAT YOU BRING:*
* 3-5 years? experience of full cycle accounting, in a high-volume environment
* Bachelor?s degree in Accounting or related field
* Currently enrolled in CPA Program, required for consideration.
* Advanced Excel skills: Experience with Pivot Tables and V-Look up functionality
* Strong accounting and analytical skills, and exceptional attention to detail.
* Proactive, friendly, and hands on individual. A self-starter with a growth mindset
* Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
* Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and ability to exercise independent judgment.
* Flexibility to assist with various tasks within the finance team environment.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Team player, positive, ability to work well with others.
* Ability to work independently under pressure with strict deadlines.
