*JOB TITLE:* Food Service Worker
*DEPARTMENT:* Dietary
*POSITION STATUS:* Casual, Union
*Responsibilities*
* Sets tables according to requirements of the current menu day, including appropriate condiments, dishes, cutlery and beverages.
* Serves foods and beverages to the residents in the common dining areas.
* Asks residents if they would prefer alternative menu item, if the resident is noticed to have nothing on their plate or has not touched their food.
* Clears tables and washes dishes according to departmental procedures.
* Washes tables following meals, with a cleaning solution approved by the Dietary Department.
* Prepares appropriate nourishment for service to residents between meals as required, and distributes to the appropriate locations by prescribed times.
* Cleans work areas and maintains orderly supplies of food and non-food items, required on a daily basis.
* Reports any and all hazardous equipment or hazardous situations to the FSS or Head Cook immediately and assists in corrective action as required.
* Uses good body mechanics at all times to reduce the risk of injury.
* Attends staff meetings and in-service training regularly.
* Participates in fire drills, fire extinguisher demonstrations and disaster planning as required.
* Maintains strict confidentiality regarding OFRA business and resident information.
* Performs other duties as directed.
*Qualifications*
* Current Food Handlers Certificate (Safe Food Handling) and Food Service Worker certificate from an approved post-secondary education facility is essential
* Successful completion and/or enrollment in a FSW program meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long Term Care Homes Act. If enrolled must complete program within three(3) years of hire date.
* Previous experience in institutional/commercial food service is an asset
* Ability to communicate in Finnish Language is an asset
* Knowledge of Finnish culture is an asset
* Knowledge of safe work practices is an asset
* Ability to perform all duties associate with the position is essential
* Attendance in good standing and in accordance with the Collective Agreement and OFRA P&P
