We are seeking a highly motivated individual for a medical secretary position in a well-established Infectious Diseases practice in Oakville, Ontario. Experience in the listed responsibilities would be an asset, but training will be provided.
Administrative Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Patient registration and health card verification
* Accurate entry of patient contact information, including email to the electronic medical record
* Scheduling and confirming patient appointments using a secure electronic messenger in the EMR
* Assisting in the booking and management of virtual clinics using Microsoft Teams
* Assisting with scheduling referrals and diagnostic service appointments for all patients
* Managing phone calls, voicemail messages and faxes
* Scanning and filing paper and electronic documents in a timely manner
* Handling third-party billings and invoice reconciliation
Clinical Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Preparing examination rooms prior to patient appointments and managing patient flow
* Responding to physician-assigned tasks related to follow up of client test results, referrals, and call backs
* Maintaining adequate office supplies
Qualifications and Requirements:
* Medical Office Assistant Certificate or equivalent in education or past experience
* One to two years of post-secondary education in a related field, or equivalent experience.
* Strong verbal and written English communication skills
* Incontestable integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality of client information
* Excellent organizational and time management skills
* Knowledge of basic medical terminology
* Computer knowledge: Intermediate Word, Excel, E-mail, Internet, Electronic Medical Record systems, Microsoft Teams, general troubleshooting
* Working experience with electronic medical records, preferably Accuro QHR
* Ability to work remotely from home in the event of a public health emergency or severe weather event, with the permission of one of the supervising physicians
* Pleasant and non-judgmental demeanor, professionalism and excellent customer service skills are essential
* Able to provide references upon request
Schedule
* 4.5 days per week (in office): M-T 9am-3:30pm, F 9am-1pm
