*Position Summary*
The fulltime permanent Kitchen Manager of Degrees Diner, a University of Manitoba Students' Union (UMSU) business, is responsible for all aspects of the kitchen operations and back of house staff management. The manager will be involved with all kitchen staff hiring, training, direction and development. They will ensure that the business continues to provide our customers with exceptional food quality and service standards. The manager will ensure that the kitchen is kept clean and sanitary while adhering to all Health code regulations. The Incumbent will execute inventory stock taking and employee labour control. This position reports directly to Degrees Manager.

*Skills and Competencies *
· Responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, task assignment, supervision, coaching, and (in concert with the manager) discipline.
· Creation of our food menu and ongoing maintenance of our recipe book. This includes item costing, creation of spec sheets, ingredient lists, recipes, plating/portion standards, and cooking instructions.
· Responsible for setting and enforcing quality standards for food menu, including consistent presentation, portions, and taste.
· Implementation of inventory control systems, including efficient ordering, stock rotation, par lists, routine and regular inventory counts, and waste control policies.
· Ensuring that all applicable regulatory standards, policies, and legislation are followed by staff. This includes (but is not limited to) food safety, health, UMSU Employment Guide and Workplace Safety and Health.
· Ensuring a high quality of cleanliness, as well as the proper use and maintenance of all kitchen equipment.
· Maintaining clear, respectful, and consistent lines of communication with kitchen staff and manager.
· Creating and fostering a fun, inclusive and respectful work environment in the kitchen
· Coordinating with the manager and, where applicable, the marketing team for specials, promotions and Social Media campaigns.
· Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings when required.
*Qualifications*
· Post-secondary education in Hospitality or Business an asset
· Minimum 3 years hospitality Management experience
