At DSBN, students are the heard of everything we do, and we are committed to helping every individual achieve their full potential.<p>Role Overview: <p>As an interpreter at John Brant Public School, you will play a crucial role in ensuring clear and effective communication for our Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. Your responsibilities will include: Classroom and Assembly Interpreting: Facilitated understanding for students during classes and school events.<p> Parent Communication: Assist Deaf and Hard of Hearing parents in communicating with teachers and support staff. <p> Preparation and Planning : Prepare for classroom interpreting by familiarizing yourself with relevant vocabulary and concepts.<p> Educational Team Collaboration : Participate in team meetings to develop and review individual Educational Plans (IEPs)<p> Communication Strategy : Provide insights on the effectiveness of communication methods used.<p> Extra-Curricular Activities : Support students during clubs, sports, and other after-school activities.<p> General Interpreting Needs: Address any other interpreting needs that may arise within the school community..Skills, Qualifications and Education Requirements Graduation from a recognized interpreter training program (ITP)<p> Active membership in provincial and national interpreting associations<p> Fluency in English and American Sign Language (ASL)<p> Knowledge of the AVLIC Code of Ethics<p> Knowledge and understanding of Deaf cultureWhy DSBN? <p>Joining the DSBN means becoming part of a supportive network that values professional growth and collaboration.
