Effective September 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025<p>The successful candidate must have:-have five years of successful literacy teaching practice in the grade 4 to 9 levels.<p>-a masters of literacy or curriculum and planning, or equivalent<p>-a vehicle and valid drivers license<p>-flexible scheduling to allow for after-school presentations and meetingsThe successful candidate will:<p>-be willing to drive to Chetwynd, Moberly Lake, and Tumbler Ridge<p>-at the beginning of the year support new literacy classrooms and new teachers around curriculum, lesson planning, and classroom climate<p>-understand and be able to apply literacy strategies that have been proven through research to have an impact.<p>-be committed to the district vision of students reading and writing at grade level, and coaching teachers to create differentiated lessons and provide in-classroom interventions through a Response to Intervention model, to meet students where they are at and help them achieve success.<p>-work under the direction of the district administrator responsible for literacy<p>-assist schools with reading level assessments<p>-be affiliated with the primary literacy workshops and facilitate the intermediate literacy workshops<p>-build relationships with students and staff<p>https://www.makeafuture.ca/resources/salary-finder/north/District Overview<p>School District No. 59 (Peace River South) is located in north-eastern British Columbia in BCs Peace River Country. We serve the communities and surrounding areas of Dawson Creek, Tumbler Ridge and Chetwynd. The Districts student population is approximately 3,500 with thirty-three percent of this population self-identifying as having Aboriginal ancestry. <p>Our students are accommodated in 19 schools, with student populations ranging from 25 to 650 students. The District is involved in a number of innovative partnerships with other local agencies. Programs or initiatives we undertake are rooted in our core business of a quality education for each student and the core belief of continuous learning for all.<p> Learning is best when it is interactive, self-directed and allows for our passions and creativity to emerge. Solid foundational skills and high expectations in an environment of critical thinking, communicating, creating and collaborating provides our students with the skills necessary to navigate the world of the future. All of our programs hold these attributes at the core.Desired qualifications and experience include: Hold, or be qualified for, a valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate.<p> Experience with adapting, and modifying, curriculum to meet the needs of students. <p> Experience teaching primary and intermediate/middle school/secondary students. <p> Strong literacy and numeracy skills. Willingness to work and implement school initiatives and goals. <p> Capacity to work independently and in collaboration with a team. <p> Ability to use performance standards in the area of social responsibility. <p> Acquainted with the outcomes and evaluation processes outlined in the new curriculum. <p> Committed to individualized and group instruction utilizing a variety of effective strategies and techniques. <p> Experience teaching in a multiage group setting. <p> Strong classroom management skills. <p> Training in teaching ELL students. <p> Ability to work as part of a team to develop and implement individualized learning plans for students with academic, social and emotional learning difficulties. <p> Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the school improvement plan. <p> Working knowledge of Criterion Based Referencing Assessment and Performance Based Assessment, and Balanced Literacy. <p> Experience working with students who display a varie
