Responsibilities
Tasks
-
Repair, build and modify prosthetic or orthotic appliances or footwear
-
Design and fabricate ocular implants
-
Plan menus and diet for individuals or groups under direction of dietition or nutritionist
-
Assist in supervising personnel who prepare and serve food
-
Paint the iris and pupil of artificial eyes
-
Take body or limb measurements of patients
-
Advise patients in the use and care of prostheses and orthoses
-
Bill third party insurers
-
Help patients complete menus
-
Maintain inventories of medications and prescription records of pharmaceutical products
-
Assist dietitians with research in food, nutrition and food service systems
-
Clean and restore ocular prostheses
-
Advise patients on loss of depth perception
-
Make and modify plaster casts
-
Advise patients on care and use of ocular prostheses
-
Repair and maintain fabrication and laboratory equipment
-
Consult with ophthalmologists concerning insertion of ocular prostheses

Examine and measure patients to develop working sketches of appliances
