Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Work setting: Veterinary clinic. Tasks: Handle, restrain and care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery. Assist veterinarian before, during and after surgery. Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under direction of veterinarian. Administer treatments as prescribed by veterinarian. Counsel clients on animal health care. Perform routine animal dental procedures and assist veterinarians with animal dentistry. Provide wound and bandage care. Animal specialization: Domestic animals/pets (cats, kittens, puppies, dogs, etc.). Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Fast-paced environment.
