Education: Master's degree. Work setting: Fluency disorders. Hospital/medical facility or clinic. Language disorders. Articulation disorders. Calibration. Resonance disorders. Audiometric testing. Speech-language and voice problems of hearing impaired. Amplification. Pediatrics. Tasks: Supervise technical and support staff. Develop, plan and implement remedial programs to correct speech, voice, language, resonance, cognitive-linguistic and swallowing disorders. Establish group and personalized care plans working as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Provide advice and educational services to patients and families regarding communication and swallowing disorders. Diagnose the degree and type of hearing impairment. Establish personalized care plans working as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Plan and implement habilitation/rehabilitation programs. Provide information to patients and families regarding the nature, extent, impact and implications of hearing loss and treatment. Interview patients to obtain case histories. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Canadian Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists Certification. Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities. Communication systems experience: Total communication. Cued speech auditory. Oral techniques. Lip reading. Alternate or augmentative communication. Area of specialization: Speech therapy.
